The wines here are based on two main grapes varieties producing, long-lived wines with strong aromatic intensity and freshness.
Bottled in January 2024 as Release 8.1 of the Jim McEwan Signature Collection, like all bottlings within the collection, it was bottled un-chill filtered, with no added colour and at natural cask strength of 59.2% (Jim would have it no other way!), it yielded only 256 bottles.
Tasting notes from Jim McEwan MBE
Colour - Luminous Autumnal Medium Barley
Body - Full bodied, the balance between the oak and the spirit is a marriage of power & grace giving a texture that is super smooth, rich, viscous and multilayered.
Aromas - It’s an olfactory delight. Subtle waves of succulent fruit create a halo which frames the sweet toastiness of the malted barley. Its time spent maturing on the Atlantic edge creates a freshness that works beautifully with the crispness of the toasted barley.
Palate - The taste spectrum is amazing. The sweetness from the barley, the fruitiness from the Jurançon, the mellowness of the oak, the freshness of the Atlantic tides & its 13 years maturing in the single Jurançon cask. Distilled by Islanders in an 1881 Distillery.
Enjoy your spiritual visit to the coast of Heaven!
