‘The Jim McEwan Signature Collection’ is the coming together of two men with a passion for Islay and Bruichladdich’s finest output - Jim McEwan (a legend who needs no introduction) and Dramfool’s Bruce Farquhar.

However, what this partnership will become is far more important than the meeting of two likeminded men of whisky. The ‘Jim McEwan Signature Collection’ will be an archive of not just the production of Bruichladdich, by its most famous son, but of the journey the distillery took with experimentation and variety. Only possible with foresight and creative control that McEwan was given. The Signature Collection features expressions from the non-peated Bruichladdich, traditionally peated Port Charlotte and the world’s most heavily peated malt Octomore. As commented by Dave Broom on Jim McEwan’s retirement, his output was an ‘innovative and thought provoking portfolio of single malts that challenged previous perceptions in the category’.

This impressive range was selected personally at time of distillation by Jim McEwan for his own collection and have lain undisturbed in Bruichladdich slowly maturing. These represent not just the finest cut of spirit produced but the finest examples of the typical (and not so typical) casks that were a cornerstone of his tenure. Each cask is unique, each one chosen for representing the best of what he intended. This must be considered the peak of the production Jim was famous for creating.

Under Jim’s eye and guiding hand Dramfool are delighted to be able to offer these bottled at a time when not only are they heading towards peak perfection but at a time when single cask independently bottled Bruichladdich’s are getting harder to find. The precious liquid is more closely guarded than ever before and who can blame them!

This collection surely promises to become a long discussed, long enjoyed and no doubt collected series of fine Islay single malts. Each has a unique and personal connection in their crafting and as Jim wants to make very clear this is not to be repeated, when they are gone they are gone!
