The 32nd release from Dramfool is a 12 year old Single Islay Malt finished for the last 16 months in a first fill Pedro Ximenez hogshead. This is the big brother of Cola Ali 5 (half the cask was bottled after 9 months' finishing, and the other half left for another 7 months).
Cola Ali was distilled at a famous Islay distillery overlooking The Paps of Jura. It consistently produces high quality spirit and is a favourite amongst aficionados of Islay whisky.
The whisky was bottled un-chill-filtered at cask strength of 57.5% yielding 178 bottles.
Tasting Notes
Nose neat: Fruity with plums & blackberries (brambles), Germolene, peat smoke, Ginger nut biscuits, Lotus biscuits, coffee and dark chocolate.
Taste neat: Very sweet with toffee, fudge, treacle toffee, Germolene, burnt twigs, Salty, briny and ashy.
Nose diluted: Curry powder! Treacle toffee, bonfires, Germolene, cardamom, fenugreek. After a barbeque.
Taste diluted: Very sweet with honey, chocolate, toffee, peat smoke, ash, Germolene, coffee and brambles.
