The 50th release from Dramfool is a 20 year old Port Charlotte matured in a bourbon hogshead for 16 years, then finished in a first-fill Oloroso Sherry Hogshead for 4 years. A beautiful whisky showcasing the delights of mixing sherry flavours with peated spirit.
We are delighted to release one of the oldest Port Charlottes ever released, the first 20 year old Port Charlotte from 2002. In fact we are releasing two of them! By pure chance we acquired 2 casks filled on 10th May 2002 and both will be bottled on 11th May 2022 at 20 years old. These are the first bottlings to bear the “Jim McEwan Legacy” stamp of approval, and we are delighted to release these special bottles at Fèis Ìle 2022.

Port Charlotte 2002
Cask Types: 16 Years Bourbon & 4 Years Sherry Hhds
Abv: 58.4%
Colour: Gorgeous Amber/ Mahogany Tone
Body: Mellow Mature and Magical
Aromas: Layer upon layer of sweet malted barley plus a fabulous combination of the peat smoke and the sweetness of the Kentucky oak. Then a magical fruit overture from the sherry casks evolve and anchor the experience. It’s Islay maturation brings a marine overture from its 18 years maturing at the Atlantics’ edge. The aromas are inviting you to the Island of Distilleries!
Palate: The mouthfeel is magical, subtle and succulent. It’s an exhilarating flavour overture as all the components work in harmony. It’s Scotland, Spain and the US as one just like the team at Bruichladdich I recruited all these years ago. Their skills are the very heart of this handmade spirit.
The smoke and sherry gently cradle the malt extract and give the mouthfeel a finish that lingers on a West Coast breeze that perfectly marries power and passion!
