A trilogy of Mad Hut 10 year olds

We talk a lot about the influence casks have on the final whisky we all enjoy. So what better way to prove the theory and do a little experimentation.

This is our first releases from Mad Hut distillery (one for the wordsmiths) which sits in the heart of Speyside. Known for sherry cask matured whisky, slow and old fashioned production at its heart.

Each whisky spent its first 8 years or so in a single bourbon barrel. However for the last 20 months of its life was transferred to a hand chosen first fill Spanish cask. These casks have all had great impact on the flavours and created three superb but different whiskies.

Three casks, all filled on 19th November 2015 and had three similar journeys, however to different outcomes, find a favourite or enjoy them all!

Mad Hut cask 169 finished in a 1st fill Vino de Naranja Barrique (Spanish orange wine, a first for us!), bottled at 55.3% yielding 219 bottles

Mad Hut cask 170 finished in a 1st fill Oloroso Barrique, bottled at 57.1% yielding 196 bottles

Mad Hut cask 172 finished in a 1st fill Pedro Ximénez Barrique, bottled at 54% yielding 223 bottles
