Dramfool Bruichladdich 2002, 23 years old, 58.1% cask #1230

from £23.33

Well, its official. Another year has passed since we launched the much enjoyed Bruichladdich 22 year old! So it is time for the sister cask, another year older, to make a showing.

With such revered spirit we didn’t want to risk ‘playing around’ so decided not to re rack, not to finish and not to meddle, but to celebrate with two-decade plus old spirit as the Distillers’ intended.

A classic elegant, fruity and flavoursome spirit not lacking the Islay DNA or the Bruichladdich house style. And let’s not forget from just the earliest of years of re-opening, it really is part of the reinvigoration of the distillery’s history.

There is a reason that quality bourbon casks are Jim McEwan’s favourite, the complimentary nature of the cask and spirt allows both to shine, no over dominance of wood or wine.

We love Bruichladdich we love the older expression and wow we love this one!!!

Tasting notes by Dramfool :

Nose Neat – Vanilla, with bourbon sweetness, tropical fruits, green apples and fresh plums.

Taste Neat – Very sweet. Old-school Laddie with tropical fruits and vanilla, a fruity finish that lingers long on the tongue. Packing a punch at 58.1% at 23 years old, but no alcohol burn.

Nose Diluted – Bursting with vibrant fruity notes, a mixed handful of boiled fruity sweets.

Taste Diluted – Beautifully sweet with yellow and green boiled sweets, vanilla, apples, green grapes, fresh plums and distant tropical shores.
