Dramfool’s journey in whisky can be seen in the legacy of the bottlings we have been so proud to discover and share with likeminded whisky fans the world over. From young fresh spirit to five decade old whisky from a closed distillery, each of these bottlings is one I am proud to have put my name to.
My mantra from the beginning has guided me through all these bottles, and of course continues to do so, ‘I will only bottle whisky that I like’. This becomes even more important as we continue expand this journey and explore new facettes of whisky.
The 31st release from Dramfool is an Islay Single Malt.
Cola Ali was distilled at a famous Islay distillery overlooking The Paps of Jura. It consistently produces high quality spirit and is a favourite amongst aficionados of Islay whisky and finished in a 1st fill Oloroso Hogshead.
Bottled un-chilled filtered at cask strength 57.3% it yielded 192 bottles

Read MoreThe 28th release from Dramfool is a rare cask of Lochindaal.
Lochindaal was distilled at Bruichladdich Distillery using barley peated to 50ppm phenols. The distillation uses a different cut than the 40ppm Port Charlotte, giving a more delicate spirit than the more oily Port Charlotte. Only 250 casks were ever filled with Lochindaal spirit making it very rare, and this is the third cask of Lochindaal Dramfool has bottled.
The whisky was matured in a bourbon barrel (probably first fill going on the colour) and bottled un-chill-filtered at cask strength of 63.0% yielding 234 bottles.

Port Charlotte is distilled at Bruichladdich Distillery using barley peated to 40ppm phenols.
The whisky was matured in a first fill Oloroso Sherry Hogshead and bottled un-chill-filtered at cask strength of 53.4% yielding 299 bottles.

The 22nd release from Dramfool is a 25 year old single malt whisky from an undisclosed Speyside distillery. Distilled in 1992 the whisky was matured in a bourbon barrel, and was bottled un-chill-filtered at cask strength of 51.2% yielding 109 bottles.

Bourbon-matured for 8 years and then transferred to a fresh Oloroso Sherry Hogshead to mature for a further 2 years. Half the cask was bottled last year at 9 years old and the remainder has just been bottled this year at 10 years old. Giving an interesting comparison of how another year maturing in an Oloroso cask influenced the whisky. The whisky was bottled un-chill-filtered at cask strength of 57.5% and yielded 175 bottles.
This whisky won Silver in the Islay category at UISGE 2019 in Helsinki!

The 14th release from Dramfool is a rarely seen independent bottling of Octomore. Distilled on 1st December 2011 and Bottled on 26th March 2018 at 6 years old.
The barley used for the distillation was peated to 150ppm phenols. The whisky was matured in a bourbon barrel and was bottled un-chill-filtered at cask strength of 62.0% giving an outturn of 253 bottles.

The 13th release from Dramfool is a Port Charlotte matured for 15 years in a bourbon hogshead, Distilled December 2001, bottled December 2016.
The whisky was bottled un-chill-filtered at cask strength of 58.3% yielding 195 bottles.

The 12th release from Dramfool is a single malt from The Speyside Distillery. Matured for 22 years in a sherry butt. The whisky was bottled un-chill-filtered at cask strength of 55.0% and 156 bottles filled.
